While it doesn’t break new ground in terms of performance or design, the Pathfinder Platinum trim stands out for offering near-luxury amenities at a competitive price point, along with a smooth driving experience and a spacious interior.

Powering the Pathfinder is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque, mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). While the CVT isn't everyone's favorite, Nissan has tuned it to behave more like a traditional automatic, and in the Pathfinder it performs well enough—offering good low-end response and commendable highway efficiency. Fuel economy is solid for the segment, with the front-wheel-drive version rated at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, while the all-wheel-drive version sacrifices just a little for added traction capability.

Where the Pathfinder Platinum truly excels is in interior comfort and space. The cabin is well laid out and features high-quality materials, particularly in this top-tier trim. The front seats are plush and supportive, the second-row bench slides and reclines for added flexibility, and the third row is usable for adults in a pinch—something not all three-row SUVs can claim. What is a recall:

Manufacturers are obligated to attempt to notify owners of recalled products. For equipment, where state registration records do not exist, manufacturers are obligated to notify their distribution chain and known purchasers of the recalled equipment.
