2016 Nissan Pathfinder Review:
"The 2016 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum is a well-rounded three-row SUV that blends comfort, utility, and upscale features in a way that appeals to families seeking both practicality and refinement. While it doesn’t break new ground in terms of performance or design, the Pathfinder Platinum trim stands out for offering near-luxury amenities at a competitive price point, along with a smooth driving experience and a spacious interior.
Powering the Pathfinder is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque, mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). While the CVT isn't everyone's favorite, Nissan has tuned it to behave more like a traditional automatic, and in the Pathfinder it performs well enough—offering good low-end response and commendable highway efficiency. Fuel economy is solid for the segment, with the front-wheel-drive version rated at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, while the all-wheel-drive version sacrifices just a little for added traction capability.
Where the Pathfinder Platinum truly excels is in interior comfort and space. The cabin is well laid out and features high-quality materials, particularly in this top-tier trim. The front seats are plush and supportive, the second-row bench slides and reclines for added flexibility, and the third row is usable for adults in a pinch—something not all three-row SUVs can claim. One of the Pathfinder’s strengths is its “EZ Flex” seating system, which allows for easy access to the third row even with a child seat in place in the second row.
The ride quality is one of the vehicle’s most pleasant traits. It’s soft and composed, ideal for families and long-distance cruising. Steering is light but accurate, and the Pathfinder feels stable and secure on the road, though it’s not particularly sporty in character. That’s a fair tradeoff for the level of comfort and isolation it offers.
Being the Platinum trim, this version of the Pathfinder is generously equipped. It comes with numerous luxury and technology upgrades that elevate the overall experience. A panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, premium leather upholstery, and an advanced navigation system are all standard. Also included is a suite of driver aids like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, which were still considered premium offerings in 2016.
Overall, the 2016 Pathfinder Platinum may not be the flashiest SUV on the market, but it’s a highly competent and comfortable option that gives you luxury-level features without stepping into luxury-brand pricing. It’s especially well-suited to families who need space, reliability, and a comprehensive set of features without compromising ride comfort."

RECALL NOTICE
What is a recall:
A safety recall involving a motor vehicle or an item of motor vehicle equipment can be independently conducted by a manufacturer or ordered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In either case, the manufacturer must file a public report describing the safety-related defect or noncompliance with a Federal motor vehicle safety standard, the involved vehicle/equipment population, the major events that resulted in the recall determination, a description of the remedy, and a schedule for the recall. NHTSA monitors each safety recall to ensure the manufacturers provide owners safe, free, and effective remedies according to the Safety Act and Federal regulations. Manufacturers are obligated to attempt to notify owners of recalled products. For vehicles, that means manufacturers merge their own records of vehicle purchasers with current state vehicle registration information. For equipment, where state registration records do not exist, manufacturers are obligated to notify their distribution chain and known purchasers of the recalled equipment. However, even if you do not receive a notification, if your vehicle, child restraint, or other item of equipment is involved in a safety recall, the manufacturer is obligated to provide a free remedy.
